Between 1642 and 1724, Staple Grove was in the hands of the Peers family. In 1724 John Peers sold Staple Grove to Conrade Adams (and an associated plantation, Rendezvous, to John Shurland). Adams also acquired some land in Bridgetown. Staple Grove was, at this point, 378 acres and there were 71 enslaved people and 'some white servants'.
