Appears to have been established from 1657 by John Read or Reid who owned the plantation until 1680 (or later). By 1680 it was of 198 acres.By 1698-99 Lt. Col. Bartholemew Reese of St. Peter sold the plantation to Edward Jordan of St. George: Reese's 'Black Rock' plantation, in St. James, 210 acres, 68 enslaved. 1728: Edward Jordan's daughter, Ann Jordan, married Joseph Dottin.
