1. Originally Horne's estate and established from 1674 and in the hands of Col. John Horne. By 1721 it was owned by James Gohier, a London merchant, whose son (also John) was living in Barbados. In James Gohier's will he appears to refer to this estate as 'Clift' and left his wife and daughter interests in the produce of the Clift estate subject to an annuity of £800 p.a. to Col.
