Statements
This location references land on the Widow Lacour estate in the 1790s. The historical plat map names Madame J.B. Lacour as the owner of this plot. We assume this to be the Widow Lacour, nee Marie Anne Jeanne dit FREDERIC LEONARD (1742-1825), also known as Marianne Leonard (Index of Early Marriages of PC, 1771- 1843), wife of Jean Baptiste Lacour (1739-1790). Widow Lacour was likely the mother of M
arieanne Lacour (1762-1821), aka the Widow Baron, wife of George Baron (1754-1794?). Widow Lacour submitted a land claim for a property 15 arpents wide by 80 arpents deep (double depth). Only the first 40 arpents from the river were confirmed. The second depth of 40 arpents was in the swamp and not habitable and thus rejected. However, the swamps behind the estates of Widow Lacour and her son Coli
n Lacour played a key role in the 1795 conspiracy.
