Statements
From 1659 to 1804 St. Domingue was a French Colony on the Caribbean island of Hispaniola, located in what is now Haiti. The name was also used during colonial times for the island as a whole. St Dominigue was the site of a slave revolt in 1791 about which some of the participants in the 1795 conspiracy may have been aware.
