Free before 13th Amendment. Founded a school that offered training in science and art. Also a member of the Philadelphia Female Anti-Slavery Society (PFASS), she was a friend of the Grimké sisters, wrote for the Liberator, and attended antislavery meetings in spite of violent threats.
