Spring Hall
First record of ownership was 1674 when it was owned by the Dowden family. In 1680 it was 233 acres and owned by Thomas Dowden. His heir, Alice Dowden, married Thomas Thornhill. His son and heir was Dowden or Dowding Thornhill. In 1737 his widow, Jane, died. The estate had been in the possession of Edward Bonnett and his wife, Mary Dowden (née Thornhill, the daughter and heir of Dowding Thornhill)
with Jane Thornhill as life tenant. In 1737 it was 250 acres and there were 91 enslaved people on the estate. At some point between then and 1781 the estate came into the ownership of Henry Bishop.
