There are discrepancies in the slave registers for the number of enslaved people held on this estate. In 1817, 32 enslaved people are registered by Patty Virgo Anglin as owner. However, her eldest son William registered 74 enslaved people as manager of the heirs of Patty Virgo Anglin in 1820 and stated that the previous filing had been for 59 enslaved people. Also in 1820, William registered 35 en
slaved people as owner, all acquired by inheritance from his mother since 1817.William had wound up his administration of his mother's estate (or at least of the enslaved people upon it) by 1826. In this year, he registered 58 enslaved people in his own right and also indicated that the 35 enslaved people registered by him as administrator in 1823 had been delivered to himself, his brothers John L
awrence and Phillip, and his sister Mary Ann (now married to Thomas Tate.
