Top Hill appears to have been owned by Samuel R. Mytin from at least 1809 to 1815. By 1817 it was owned jointly by Sarah Lavinia Mytin and Mary Ann Burrell, but there were also enslaved people on the estate hired by Sarah Lavinia Mytin from William Jackson. By 1834 the estate was jointly owned by Sarah Lavinia Mytin, Anna Maria Hannaford and her new husband Stephen Hannaford.Around two-thirds of t
he enslaved people owned by Mary Ann Burrell were female; the group leased from William Jackson appear to have re-dressed the balance, being around two-thirds male.Top Hill is recorded in the Almanacs of 1816, 1822 and 1826 as a coffee plantation.Samuel Robert Mytin and Lavinia Sarah had two sons baptised in St Dorothy 19/11/1812: George Thomas aged 3 and Samuel Robert aged 18 months. George Thoma
s inherited 7 enslaved people from Mary Ann Burrell and 23 enslaved people from Miss Davies (estate ID JA12653). It's not clear whether or not these enslaved people were also attached to Top Hill estate but it seems likely as the almanacs don't give an estate name for this group. George Thomas Mytin was deceased by 1832.The enslaved people on this estate were often given in separate lists accordin
g to their various owners and identification is tentative.
