1. The original purchasers of the Lots which became Roxburgh (or Roxborough) were D. Mill & A. Young (19/03/1767) and Archibald Stewart (05/06/1770), under St Paul nos. 5 and 18 respectively; by 1773 Archibald Stewart owned both Lots; 'Present Possessor Hon. James Kirk.' The owner of the estate in 1832 was shown as Sir M. Stewart (presumably the 6th bt., 1788-1836); the estate was still in cultiva
tion in 1862. 2. Ingram shows 'Roxborough estate, Tobago. indenture whereby Archibald Stewart of Tobago releases to Sir Michael Stewart Bt Roxborough Plantaion in the island of Tobago Sept. 22 1775. D.S. MS 1139. Recorded in the Register's Office of the island of Tobago Sept 24 1776 [sic]. Authenticated by the Lord Mayor of London Oct. 10 1775.'
